The new 4K Stick looks like a value pick, with a software caveat

Amazon announced the 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K at $59.99. Its $29.99 October 6–7 Prime event offer has ended; check today’s price. It adds the new remote, Wi-Fi 6 and direct power from a TV's USB port. Choose the 4K Max if Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6E or 16GB storage matter more. Before replacing a working Fire TV, check that the apps you rely on are available for the new Vega OS.

Manufacturer-source buying guide updated 8 October 2026. I have not tested the new Fire TV Stick or remote. Prices are announced U.S. prices and historical October event prices; confirm current checkout terms, seller and region. Early Amazon product ratings are a small, changing snapshot, not a substitute for hands-on testing.

What is new in the 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K?

Amazon says the new stick starts at $59.99 in the U.S. and ships with its redesigned Fire TV Remote. Its 4K output supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, with Wi-Fi 6 and 8GB of storage. A short included USB-C cable can power it from a compatible TV USB port, so a wall adapter is not required for that setup. Check the Amazon product listing for current package details and delivery availability.

Amazon's announcement describes the new stick as nearly 20–40% faster than a similarly priced 4K streaming stick from another brand. That is Amazon's own comparison, not an independent benchmark. Treat the percentage as a manufacturer claim rather than a guarantee that every app or television will feel that much faster.

The $29.99 October event offer has ended

Amazon announced a $29.99 U.S. Prime event offer for October 6–7. That event has ended. The regular announced price is $59.99. This historical offer was time-limited and region-specific; verify the product, Prime eligibility, seller, delivery address and checkout total on Amazon before buying. For the full event schedule and other confirmed device offers, see the Prime Big Deal Days guide.

The standalone Fire TV Remote is listed at $14.99 and was available for preorder when this guide was checked; Amazon says shipping begins in late October. It may be the smaller upgrade if your current stick works well and you mainly want tactile controls or the new shortcut buttons.

Check the new remote against your exact Fire TV

Amazon says the redesigned remote pairs with most Fire TV streaming players and Amazon Ember televisions, but its product page lists exceptions. Those include Fire TV Stick 4K (1st Gen), Fire TV Cube (1st Gen), the pendant-design Fire TV (3rd Gen), Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen), and third-party smart TVs with Fire TV built in. Review the new remote's Amazon listing and its compatibility information against your exact device before ordering.

The included remote is different on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. If you already own a Fire TV, replacing the remote is useful only if the model is compatible and the new button layout solves a problem you actually have.

Vega OS makes app compatibility worth checking

The new stick is built on Amazon's Vega OS. Amazon says its Vega-powered devices have more than 2,000 apps, but a broad catalog does not guarantee that a particular streaming service or regional app is available. Search for the exact apps you use before moving from an older Fire TV, especially if you depend on a niche service or a setup outside the standard Amazon app store.

On 6 October, Amazon's product page showed 2.3 out of 5 stars from 100 global ratings. The recent review sample is mixed: several verified buyers report trouble finding or running some apps, while others say streaming works well. These early ratings and comments can change and are not a controlled test. Amazon also says this device does not support sideloading; check the exact apps you rely on and read current feedback before replacing an older Fire TV. I have not tested this stick. See the live Amazon rating and recent reviews.

When does the 4K Max make more sense?

Amazon positions the 4K Max above the new standard 4K stick. Its published comparison lists Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6E and 16GB storage, while the new standard stick uses HDR10-family formats, Wi-Fi 6 and 8GB. If your television supports Dolby Vision and Atmos and you care about those formats, compare the Max's live price with the $59.99 standard model before checkout.

For a compatible 4K television without a strong reason to choose the premium formats, compare the new Stick's current checkout price with the Max; the announced $29.99 October event price has ended. If your existing device already plays your apps reliably, the spec sheet alone is not a reason to replace it.

Common questions

How much is the new Fire TV Stick 4K in 2026?

Amazon announced a $59.99 U.S. list price and a $29.99 Prime offer for October 6–7, 2026. The event has ended. Check the current seller and checkout price; the former offer is not guaranteed.

Does the new Fire TV Stick 4K use Vega OS?

Yes. Amazon says the 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K is built on its Vega operating system. Check that your must-have streaming apps are available for this model before replacing an older Fire TV.

Will the new Fire TV Remote work with my older Fire TV?

Amazon says it works with most Fire TV streaming players and Amazon Ember televisions, but lists several device and third-party TV exceptions. Check the exact model against Amazon's current compatibility information before ordering.

Is the Fire TV Stick 4K Max better?

The 4K Max is the higher-tier option if you want formats such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6E or 16GB storage. The standard 2026 Stick costs less and includes the redesigned remote; choose based on your TV, apps and current prices.
