ESR CryoBoost vs UGREEN MagFlow 25W: which folding charger?

Two folding 25W chargers: ESR with active cooling and UGREEN W757. Compare phone compatibility, included power accessories and my ESR charging results.

The fan is why I would keep the ESR

ESR is the one I can recommend from daily use: I like its quiet cooling fan, though the Watch hinge and non-magnetic earbud pad have annoyances. UGREEN W757 is worth comparing if you want a compact folding alternative. A 25W label on both does not tell us which will charge your phone faster.

I tested the ESR charger supplied for review. UGREEN is a specification-based comparison, not a hands-on review. The exact models here are ESR 2C590 and UGREEN W757 / US SKU 55964. Amazon links are affiliate links.

Start with the exact model, not the brand name

CryoBoost and MagFlow each cover more than one charger. This comparison is between the folding ESR 2C590 and UGREEN W757, sold in the US as SKU 55964. A fixed desktop stand, an older 15W version or a MagFlow Pro is a different purchase.

On the checked Amazon page, the UGREEN item details identify W757 and manufacturer part 55964. Amazon also offers a newer model. If you change the selected product, compare its specifications again: this guide does not automatically cover every newer MagFlow.

What the ESR fan changed in my runs

With my iPhone 17 Pro, I reported 0–80% times of 55 minutes with the PITAKA case and the fan on, 67 minutes with the fan off, and 46 minutes by USB-C. A separate case-free run with the fan on reached a recorded 80% at 51 minutes.

These were individual runs, not a controlled average. The case-on series did not capture an exact 80% checkpoint, so I would not read the four-minute case-on versus case-free difference as a precise penalty from the case. At 30 minutes, the directly recorded readings were 57% with the case and 59% without it.

The fan-on and fan-off experience made cooling useful to me on the ESR. It cannot predict the UGREEN result: an ESR with its fan disabled is still a different charger. My ESR follow-up includes the charging chart and the longer-term observations.

The small annoyances matter when you use it every day

I find the ESR fan quiet enough for my desk. The charger has continued working well over months of use, with no obvious visible wear. The Apple Watch hinge is looser than I would like, and the earbud charging pad is not magnetic, so placement needs more attention than the phone pad.

I would check those same details on any folding replacement: whether the Watch stays at the angle you want, whether your earbuds sit reliably, and whether the folded shape works in the bag you actually carry. I cannot judge the UGREEN hinge or fan noise from a product photo.

The adapter and your phone belong in the comparison

The selected US bundles include their wall adapters: 50W for ESR and 45W for UGREEN. Those are adapter ratings, not a claim that the phone receives that much wireless power. UGREEN lists a 35W combined output budget for this station.

UGREEN’s W757 support page specifies iPhone 16 or 17 with iOS 26 or later for its 25W claim and recommends the supplied power accessories. Earlier phones can be listed as compatible without receiving the maximum rate. The English support page had no downloadable manual available when checked, so the UGREEN details here use its product and support specifications.

Compare the delivered price with the correct plug, adapter and cable included. A cheaper bare station may require another purchase. For a broader phone-and-adapter checklist, see the iPhone charging guide.

Can you reuse a 20W iPad adapter?

A 20W adapter is below the power recommendation for both stations: ESR asks for at least 50W; W757 support calls for its supplied accessories or third-party accessories supporting 45W or more. That does not establish what happens in every lower-power setup, but I would not buy either station expecting a 20W adapter to meet its advertised maximum.

The selected US bundles already include the adapter and cable. If you replace that adapter with a multiport charger, check the output of the port you will actually use, including when another device is connected. A combined wattage across several ports is not the same as the output available to one station. Pack the folding stand, cable and suitable adapter together.

For direct USB-C charging of the phone, the question is different. The iPad charger reuse guide helps decide whether your existing adapter is enough for that job.

Which would I buy?

For my desk, I would keep the ESR. I already know how it behaves with my phone and case, and I like being able to switch its cooling fan on. Someone who dislikes fans or prioritises the folded footprint should look closely at the W757’s design and return policy before choosing it.

I would not replace a working charger solely because another listing says 25W. First decide what needs to improve: time to charge, packing size, Watch placement or the number of wall adapters. Then compare the exact bundle. If charging with a thin case is your concern, my PITAKA case-on charging article shows the readings behind my decision to leave the case on.

Common questions

Is the UGREEN MagFlow faster than ESR CryoBoost?

I have not tested UGREEN W757, so I cannot rank their charging speed. Both selected models advertise up to 25W; the phone, software, temperature, case and power supply can affect actual results.

Does this guide cover the MagFlow Pro or desktop stand?

No. It compares the folding W757 / US SKU 55964 with ESR 2C590. The Pro and fixed desktop models have separate specifications.

Do I need to buy a wall adapter separately?

The selected US bundles list included adapters: 50W with ESR and 45W with UGREEN W757. Verify the selected listing and plug type before ordering.

Will every MagSafe iPhone charge at 25W on these stations?

No. Charging compatibility does not establish the maximum rate. UGREEN W757 support specifies iPhone 16/17 with iOS 26 or later for its 25W claim. Check the exact phone against the charger manufacturer’s requirements; do not transfer that claim to another model.

Can I use my 20W iPad adapter for these folding stations?

A 20W adapter is below ESR’s 50W recommendation and UGREEN W757’s 45W-or-higher recommendation for alternative power accessories. The selected US bundles include their adapters and cables, so check the complete bundle before buying another adapter.
